Advent, the season when we prepare for the coming of Jesus at Christmas. Part of that preparation at Halmer End is the annual Christmas Chip 'n' Hymn. There were congregational carols with our organist Stuart Jackson, Christmas music by the Unity Choir and by our special guests Phil Cartwright accompanied on piano and piano accordion by Stefan Andrusyschyn. The congregation was gripped by Phil's rendering of 'O Holy Night! The stars are brightly shining. It is the night of the dear Saviour's birth.' The choir was conducted by Margaret Nicol and accompanied on piano by Margaret Ing. The evening concluded with chip butties and drinks.
