Christmas Shoeboxes from Halmer End Methodist Church

From Thursday 7th November to
Sunday the 10th November 2019

On Thursday 7th November preparations began for the Sunday when a team of volunteers started to prepare shoeboxes with Christmas presents in them for children overseas who would not normally have a present at Christmas. The local organisers have been working all year round to gather gifts for the children's boxes. Sunday was the day when all those gifts were sorted and selected for the children.

Just look at the scene when they started. All those gifts, big and small, separated out for girls and boys in different age groups.

The team worked all day on this task setting their stock out on the tables in the big hall and then selecting the gifts for each box making sure that every box for each girl, or boy, of the same age had the same contents – different contents of course for the boys and the girls. What a task! All done with Christian love.

A big 'Thank you' to the team of Anne & Phil, Ann & Ken, Barbara, Mary & Wilmot Norcup, Mary, Andrea, James, Zoe and Reuben and Laila & Kelly Norcup who filled 343 shoeboxes for Teams4u to distribute.

If you would like to read more about the work of Teams4u then please refer to their web site here where you can also see videos of the distribution of the Christmas Shoeboxes to some of the most vulnerable children in Eastern Europe and Africa. Our boxes from Halmer End have gone to children in Belarus. The two pdf files give you the latest information from Teams4u and a Thank you note for our boxes.
