Jo accredited as a Methodist Local Preacher
What a joy for some folk from Halmer End to share in Jo's accreditation service over Zoom on the 26th July 2020.
Jo Dolman, you may recall, worshipped at Halmer End until she moved to Yorkshire where she is a Children, Family and Youth Worker in the Airedale Methodist Circuit of the Yorkshire West Methodist District. Jo's promises, part of the accreditation service, took place outside Silsden Methodist Church — see the photos.
Jo has sent us an account of the service.
"My accreditation service happened over Zoom on 26th July 2020 postponed from May, as we have been hit by the pandemic and after passing it in November 2019, I felt that I needed to finish the jigsaw, and have my service in whatever format we could.
My promises were taken outside Silsden Methodist Church, on a busy traffic afternoon, with myself, Janet Clark as Local Preachers' Secretary and Superintendent Minister Rev'd Ruth Crompton. We then had the service where I shared some of my Local Preacher's journey over an evening service, this felt special to me to have so many of my friends and family coming together from across the UK, Jersey and Kenya over Zoom and Youtube, who have all been part of this special journey.

Well, another successful conclusion to Halmer End Methodist Church's 2020 Christmas Shoebox Appeal despite having concerns that we would be struggling to achieve anything like the 343 we filled in 2019 due to the ongoing pandemic.
