Each year throughout the period of Lent from Ash Wednesday to Holy Saturday (the Saturday before Easter Day) friends at Halmer End Methodist Church place various symbols by and on a wooden cross to remind us of the different stages in the journey of Jesus Christ that took him to his crucifixion on a hill called Calvary just outside Jerusalem. This takes place during our worship services each week during Lent culminating in the death of Jesus on Good Friday.
On Easter Sunday we remove each of the symbols and then turn the cross from tragedy to triumph as we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus from the dead by decorating the cross with flowers. After the service the cross is placed outside the Chapel front door for all to see.It is a powerful reminder to all that Jesus did live just like you and I and he did die and he did rise from the dead.People ever since that first Easter Day have testified to their walk in life with the risen Saviour Jesus. He wants to share your life with you too. Just invite him to come into your life.
