Minnie Pit Disaster Centennial – Remembrance
The Chapel at Halmer End was open from 9.30 am until 12 noon for prayerful remembrance for all the miners and one rescuer who lost their lives in the Coal Mining Disaster at the Minnie Pit in Halmer End on the 12th January 1918.

The names of all men who perished were read out with their ages and places of burial. A number of people joined in the remembrance, lighting a candle and reminiscing about relatives who were lost in the disaster.
