We never thought it would happen, our Christingle Service for 2023, because the weather was so bad. The snow had just gone but it was still raining. We nearly cancelled it, but no, we took a step of faith and decided that we would go ahead. Unfortunately Jo Dolman, our preacher for the service, could not get to us from Birmingham (where she is presently studying) and so Helen and David took the service using Jo's excellent PowerPoint presentation.
There was an excitement about the service, especially from the children as they made their Christingles, reminding us with the orange that the world belongs to God, not to us, and the lighted candle in the centre reminding us of Jesus, the Light of the World. Jesus himself said these words in John's Gospel Chapter 8 verse 12 "When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."(NIV version).
At the beginning of our service we received the POSADA which is travelling around homes, businesses, schools and Care Homes in our community as well as the Methodist Care Home 'Claybourne' in Chell. Our web article 'Join the Posada Journey! tells you more.
A big 'Thank You' to all the families who braved the weather and came to the Christingle Service and made it such a special evening for us all.
